FAQs
Do Super-Flo RV Gutters add much weight to my RV? – No, the gutter sections weight 1/10 of a pound per linear foot – that’s 20% less than Brand X despite having 10 times the water capacity.
What are the gutters and spouts made of? – Both are made of virgin grade polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
What are the dimensions of the gutters? – The walls are 1/16 inch think. The outside dimensions of the gutter channel are 15/16” front wall x 1 1/8” rear wall x 1 1/8” bottom and 8 feet in length.
Can the gutters and spouts be painted? – Yes. We recommend Krylon spray paint that is available in many colors and works well on PVC.
Why do you fold the gutter sections in half? – We cut both sidewalls and fold the 8 foot section in half to reduce your shipping costs. Otherwise, it would be an oversized item incurring additional shipping costs, and we would have to charge you more for a very expensive 8’ box. You’d also have more installation work, because with shorter sections you’d have to cut more “tongues” – see Installation Instructions.
Why do you use screws instead of adhesive for installation? – We had such a bad experience with “Brand X” and their adhesive-backed gutter, that we tried brass screws and found them far, far superior, and a much easier installation. Of course, you don’t have to order the brass screws, and could buy double-stick tape or other adhesive locally. BUT BE SURE TO DO AN EXCELLENT JOB OF CLEANING THE AREA FIRST, OR THE ADHESIVE WILL START TO COME LOOSE. See “Our Story”.
What are the parts of the Super-Flo RV Gutters System? – 1) The gutters which are “J” shaped to make it easy to drill the screw holes – better than if they were “U” shaped. 2) The Gutter Spouts with Extension which whisk the water 3 inches away from the RV, and 3) the brass screws – brass so they won’t rust.
Doesn’t drilling the screw holes cause leaks? – All reputable RV manufacturers use multi-layered roofs. Besides the rubber, metal, or fiberglass exterior that you see, they include several layers of block foam and laun (laminated wood) below the surface, so that the 3/8” screws will not penetrate the interior. In any case, it is important that you follow our installation instructions, and place a dab of white silicon sealer in the hole before inserting the screw – see Installation Instructions.
How should I care for a Super-Flo RV Gutters System? – Periodically, brush or hose-out the gutter of accumulated debris such as leaves and pine needles that could cause the gutters to overflow. Once a year, we suggest coating them with a good quality UV retardant – something you should do for all exterior plastic and fiberglass components of your RV in any case.
Can you ship to a Campground? – Yes. We ship by UPS Ground and can ship to a Campground as long as they DO NOT have a Post Office Box address. Be sure to check with the campground office to be certain it’s OK with them, because refused shipments will be treated as returned orders, and you will still be charged the shipping costs. On the Checkout Form DO NOT check the “Same as Billing Address” box – enter the Campground address and phone.
